How to Use Dic.

Hi everybody, it's me, Lein.
I explained about the grammar of Arka on Lein's Lesson 1.
But I believe someone would think "I'm OK with the grammar now, but it doesn't mean I can read Arka."
How about you, Shion?

You're right. I know the word order of Arka is SVO and adjectives come after nouns. But I'm not sure I can read Arka.

So, we're going to learn how to read Arka on Lein's Lesson 2, making use of the grammar we've already learnt :)

To be honest with you, it's very troublesome to memorize the words.
It's true that Arka has a simpler grammar than English does, but you have to memorize words with great effort, right?

Look in the online Arka dictionary when you face a word you don't know.
You have to install nothing on your PC. And the information is always new. You can count on it.

It's an electronic dictionary, so it's more useful than a normal paper dictionary.
You'll memorize words with no effort while consulting the dictionary many times.
First of all, consult Diaklel, the online Arka dictionary.

I heard Diaklel means "the illusionary dictionary" or "the imaginary dictionary." And it's also called "Lunar dictionary." "Lunar" represents Arka in English. Huh, it's a bit strange.
Should I enter the search word or phrase in the search box on the upper-left corner?

With your typical keyboard, yes.
You can search words by the Latin alphabet, not the Lunar alphabet.

The results of the search are listed alphabetically.
I thought they were listed in the Lunar-alphabetical order, like t, k, x, s...

In the dictionaries in Arbazard, words are listed in the Lunar-alphabetical order.
In Diaklel, words were once listed in the Lunar-alphabetical order, but it was annoying for users.

Diaklel were written in the Lunar alphabet around 2005. It was very difficult for learners to use the dictionary.
Diaklel is very handy now and suitable for beginners, too.

Hmmm. By the way, it has more than 17,000 words. I think it's huge for a dictionary of a conlang.
Is my name in it, too? Oh? There's no result for "xion" in the dictionary. Is it because I'm a girl in Earth?

I doubt it. Maybe you should search for your full name, "xion hazki".
Or how about clicking the check box named "fuzzy search"?
The fuzzy search will find any words or phrases that include "xion".

I see.
Oh, I've found it.
It says "She is the heroine of "Book of Shion." A Japanese high school student. The story begins with her seventeenth birthday. Meltia, the demon invocated her to Atolas, where she met Lein, the other heroine, and Arsye, the hero. She had some fights over Varde, a stick of demons, and saved the country Arbazard."
Seems the dictionary has summarized the book.

Diaklel isn't only a dictionary but also an encyclopedia because it has a lot of descriptions of the culture.
The descriptions of the culture are written in [culture]. Check them out.

What is an apple called in Arka, Lein? I'd like to know what an apple is in Arka, using the word "apple."
You can't use the dictionary if you don't know words in Arka?

Yes, you can. Deselect the radio button named "direction word" and select the radio button named "definition."
You can use the dictionary as an English-Arka dictionary now.
Deselect the "fuzzy search" and write "apple" in the search box. And press Enter key or select the search button.

I got it. Hey, an apple is "miik" in Arka.
You can select the "fuzzy search" while selecting the radio button named "definition"?

Yes.
Then you'll come to words or phrases that include "apple" like "green apple."

Hey, it's quite useful!
The dictionary does have various functions.

"How to Use Diaklel Skillfully" will tell you some tips. Check it out.
I'll explain how to read the dictionary, using "aav" (chain) as an example next time.
