Copula
"et" is a copula. Adjectives and nouns can come after a copula.
an et kai. = I am big.
non et min. = I am a woman.
The Tenses of Copulas
Do you remember the adverbs and suffixes for verbs' tenses and aspects? You can use them as a copula.
"ke tur" is "I go now." The verb is modified by the adverb "tur."
You can use this "tur" as the present copula. You don't need any "et."
an tur lif. = I am young for now.
an at kai. = I was big.
la sil sor. = He will become tall.
The Aspects of Copulas
You cannot attach any aspects to "et" (be).
If you want to mean "become," you should use "em" instead.
em sat = be going to become
em kit = start becoming
If you want to make "em sat" past, you should make it "emat sat."
You can also use ik, or and es for emik, emor and emes.
tu ik har. = It has become red.
kaam tiil or kaaf. = Your cheek is turning into reddish.
Negative Copulas
If you want to negate a verb, you should put an adverb "en" in front of the verb: "en ke" means "don't go."
So, the negative copula is "en et"? No, it is "de."
an de min. I am not a woman.
And the past tense of "de" is "det."
